
International seminar: “Development of processes and devices in spinning technology”
From December 17 to 20, 2025, an international seminar is being held in Sliven on the topic: “Development of processes and devices in spinning technology”.
The seminar is part of the Small-scale Partnerships activities under the Erasmus+ program: 2025-1-BG01-KA210-ADU-000363229, “Training Workshop on Primary Textile Techniques”.
The coordinator of the cooperation is the Scientific and Technical Union for Textiles, Garment and Leathers, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Ivelin Rahnev.
The leading organization of the seminar is the PGTO “Dobri Zhelyazkov” – Sliven with director Eng. Daniela Karamanova and support is provided by the National Art High School “Dimitar Dobrovich” – Sliven with director Alexander Doychinov.
The seminar was opened in the auditoriums of the PGTO “Dobri Zhelyazkov” – Sliven on December 18, 2025 with an introductory lecture on the topic: Development of the formation of the fibrous flow in spinning technics, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ivelin Rahnev.
The scientific sessions continued with plenary reports by the foreign lecturers Prof. Hale Karakaş and Prof. A. Sezay Saraç from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey and Prof. Dragan Ђорђевић from the Faculty of Technology in Leskovac of the University of Niš in Serbia.
The practical program included a visit to the largest textile enterprise in Bulgaria – E. Miroglio EAD , where the executive director Dr. Gaetano Rimini presented the production program and prospects to the company. Subsequently, the lecturers from the seminar visited the Museum of the Textile Industry in Sliven and were introduced to the centuries-old traditions of textile techniques by Toni Dimitrova.
In the creative environment of the National Art Gallery “Dimitar Dobrovich” – Sliven on December 19, 2025, art history reports were presented by Prof. Suzana Ђорђевић from the Faculty of Technology in Leskovac, by Dr. Neshe Saraç from Altınbaş University, by Assoc. Prof. Iva Dobreva-Dragostinova and by Chief Assistant Dr. Nezabravka Popova – Nedyalkova from NBU – Sofia, on topics related to the connection between art and primary textile techniques.
The lecture part of the seminar ended in the authentic environment of Zheravna with the reports of Eng. Rositsa Ruskova, director of PGD “Ivan Vazov” – Velingrad and Eng. Tashka Koleva, PhD from PGTO “Dobri Zhelyazkov” – Sliven in the field of modern woodworking techniques and manual techniques for twisting a fibrous sheaf.
This seminar is the second in a series of six scientific forums planned in the cooperation partner countries – Bulgaria, France, Turkey and Serbia.
The subject of the partnership is the determination of primary textile techniques from the formation of the fibrous sheaf, through spinning and weaving, to the refinement of raw fabrics with natural means.
The project aims to develop equipment for practical training in spinning, weaving and finishing, and is funded by the national agency HRDC – Sofia under the Erasmus+ program.
